Personality:
Rome is a very hostile person; he likes fighting a lot, but not so much with wands. However, despite being so hostile, he's also a flirt, but he only flirts with those he knows would be off-put by it. He's not one for the females, though; no, he's actually rather misogynistic. However, if you're a guy and he actually has a crush on you, he might end up completely abusing you, verbally and physically, or avoiding you altogether; he doesn't want to be weighted down by such fickle matters, and he hopes that if he does such a thing, it'll help him out in the long run.
Despite all of this stuff, Rome has quite a few guilty pleasures. Despite not being the sharpest tool in the shed, he's actually got a love of history; specifically, the French Revolution. Ever since he arrived at the school, however, he's begun to fall in love with subjects like Transfiguration and Defense Against The Dark Arts. However, while he's fascinated by those, it doesn't help his hatred of the other subjects; he's not even expecting to pass Divination on his OWLs. Another guilty pleasure he has is that he likes writing song lyrics. No matter that he can't sing or play an instrument; he loves to just sit down to the side and write out songs. And still, despite the fact that he doesn't sing well, he still likes to sing. But he keeps this fairly under wraps, so no one knows about it.
Rome is rather hard to get on your side; he likes to isolate himself from the rest of the crowd, to just sit to the side and watch the "lunchroom politics", as he likes to call it. However, if you are able to acquire him as a friend, he is ridiculously loyal. He will defend you from any sort of comment, he'll cover for you if you don't have enough money, anything. Make an enemy out of him, however, and he will go out of his way to make your life a living hell. He isn't easy to anger, however; he gives the impression that he's angry far sooner than he does get angry.
If you can get close to him, he's actually quite easy to make come apart. He puts up this persona to protect himself, but, if he ends up going out with you or something, he can be quite the romantic. Given a few dates, he'll have become completely soft when that person is with him. But he normally makes it so you can't actually get close enough for you to ever want to go out with him.

History and Details:
london, england.
Lucretia and Lafayette met when Lafayette was visiting London on a business trip. Lafayette was meeting with some people, and he ran into Lucretia in a pub while in London. Lafayette ended up asking Lucretia out on a date, which she hesitantly said yes to. They actually didn't work out well at first; they made it four dates, but then they broke up because they were too different. Lafayette went back to France, and Lucretia stayed in England. They met each other again a year or so later, (Lafayette was 26 years old, Lucretia was 24 at this point) and decided to try going out again. This time, however, it worked much better than it had before. Both Rome and Alois have asked why it seemed to have worked the second time and not the first, and neither of them could give them an answer. It did, and that's all they cared about.
vienna, austria.
They married two years later, and, after another year, they had Alois in Vienna, Austria (Lucretia started going with Lafayette on his trips). Alois was an accident, so they weren't too sure what to do. They stumbled through the first year or so with many references to baby books and such. But they weren't exactly ready for a stable environment.
versailles, france.
Five years after Alois was born, they had Rome on January 24, 2007 in Versailles, France, at 3:49 in the afternoon. When his brother finally laid eyes on him, he made a promise. A promise to make sure that Rome grew up right and was safe so long as he was around, and, once he was older, safe everywhere. Lucretia and Lafayette found that adorable, but never expected for Alois to actually follow through on his promise.
Rome and his family stayed in France for a little while longer, crashing at Lafayette's parents' house. Rome was a rather quiet baby, though, which they found odd; Alois had been very verbal and very loud. But, seeing as there didn't seem to be anything wrong with him, they thought nothing more of it. Lafayette asked to be transferred temporarily to a job that kept him in France for a bit but, before Rome was even one year old, they were out traveling again.
london, england.
It took another three years, when Rome was three and Alois was eight, for them to settle down. Lucretia was able to convince Lafayette to settle down in London, and Lafayette willingly quit his job to make that happen. Alois was sent to school there, and grew up rather well.
Lafayette was surprised when Alois was called to go to Hogwarts, but Lucretia took it as normal. Alois did amazingly; he got great grades, he got a lot of friends, everything. Everything seemed to be going well for them. At least, for another four years it was.
After four years, Lucretia up and left. Said she was going out and never came back. She and Lafayette had been having problems, yes, but Lafayette still loved her. She broke his heart when she left, and Rome was left to pick up the pieces of his broken father. He took a vow that day that he wouldn't trust women; women brought nothing but pain, and it was better if he would let them close enough to hurt him.
When Rome turned eleven, he too was invited to Hogwarts. He nearly declined -- there was no way he was leaving his father to follow in his mother's footsteps. But Lafayette insisted. So Alois helped Rome with the shopping instead of his mother, and they went through to Platform 9 and 3/4s together. They even shared a room on the train -- but nothing could keep Rome from worrying about his father.
hogwarts, scotland.
It was at Hogwarts that Rome started to change. He had already figured out his favorite classes by the end of year one; by year two, he had a few friends; by year three, he had a boyfriend. But, when Rome offered to take him home, he refused, claiming it was "merely a phase"; he then proceeded to call Rome a "faggot" and dumped him unceremoniously, being the second person that broke Rome's heart.
london, england.
The second one wasn't better. This time, over the summer between third and fourth year, he fell in love with a friend he had in London since he was young. This time, however, after he told his friend that he liked him -- someone he thought to be his best friend -- his friend laughed in his face and then proceeded to tell his older brother, who, with a group of his friends, decided to beat Rome up. This was when Rome decided that love was merely for the weak; he wouldn't be subject to that again. And so he decided to make himself stronger, colder, and more closed off.
And that's where he's been for the past few years.

Other:
Pet: His cat, Abbe Sieyes. He had to leave his other cat, Julius Caesar, at home.
Patronus: Rome's patronus is of a chinchilla, demonstrating the fear and timidness that he once had and still does.
Anamagi: If completed, which he is quite adamant about, he would turn into a panther.
Role-playing Sample:
Just seeing the long red train made Rome Ash Kingston regress into his memories, deep into what he considered the “happy days” -- the first day in which he and his brother went to Hogwarts for the first time together. They had walked on, side by side, hand in hand; they didn’t part until it was time for the first years to go off on their own (Alois was passed over for prefect). And now it was time, once again, to get on that damn train. He had stopped going with his brother even since Alois had graduated, which just made it even more hell to get on. He lingered in the doorway going onto the train, looking back. There was Alois standing there -- he always went to take him to the platform, since they both knew his father couldn’t come. It was nice to have someone there for him, but it just got awkward when no one sat with him -- like usual.
Rome cast a fake smile at his brother, who ate it up and cast a wide grin back at him. He turned around and walked into the train, hand tracing along the wall. Oh, and now he can see all of his friends again! Pff. Yeah right. He had friends? Last time he checked, he wasn’t Alois, the godly being that was able to juggle good grades and a group of friends. He adored Alois, yes, but it didn’t matter in this particular case -- Alois seemed like the perfect one, the one that Rome could never live up to. And he didn’t really care, quite frankly.
He entered an empty cabin and leaned his head against the window, trying to find Alois. Sure enough, there he was, waving at him and smiling. Rome found himself remembering how, when he was scared that first day, Alois took his hand and held it tightly, promising him that it was all going to be okay.
Even when they ended up being in different houses (Alois in Ravenclaw, he in Slytherin -- damn that sorting hat for detecting the potential he had), Alois promised him that it would all be okay. And, for the first two years, he pretty much helped him at every possible chance he could; Rome became a regular in Alois’s group of friends, despite being in a different house. But still needed his brother.
After his brother graduated, he made a couple of friends in his year; a few other third years that often sat nearby him in lunch, who seemed to have the same interests as he. He liked having them as friends, and they lasted throughout the year. But, halfway through the year, he met Lukis.
Lukis. The mere mention of his name caused Rome to tense and clench his fist in anger. He loved him, and Lukis merely treated it like a gift from the 99¢ store. Lukis had always been confused, but…
Lukis was another Slytherin, and he was another one that sat to the side of everything, not really paying attention to life, merely keeping a nose in a book throughout the breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Rome got a crush on him early in the year, and, about halfway through, he decided to take it to the next level -- he invited Lukis to join their group of friends. Lukis accepted.
A month after that, Lukis asked Rome a question pertaining to a rumor that he had heard. Was he really gay? Rome nodded, but said no more. It was at that point that Lukis paused and then proceeded to lean forward and kiss him on the lips gently. He said only five words after the kiss: “I think I am too.”
After that, they were together for the rest of the year. While it didn’t start out public, it grew to it -- they walked down the halls holding hands, they kissed before going to sleep, they sat together in the dining hall; the whole nine yards.
At the end of the year, however, once they got off the train, Rome asked him how he was to contact Lukis. He responded only with a snort, saying that it was all “just a phase”, that he would “never be a faggot whore like him”.
Rome was pulled out of the memory by the starting of the train, beginning to depart from the station. He gave a final wave to Alois before propping his legs up on the seat across from him, leaning back.
He had a feeling this year would be fun.
