James Sirius Potter
Seventeen, Gryffindor, Seventh
Basics:
Full Name:James Sirius Potter
Nickname(s):He usually just goes by James, though some of his closer friends and family call him Jay.
DoB: May 2nd
Sexuality:Heterosexual
The Wizarding World:
Blood Status: Halfblood
Affiliated With:Order of the Phoenix
Wand: Pine and phoenix feather. 10 and a half inches.
Appearance:
James inherited his father's dark brown, nearly black hair. However, James prides himself in saying that his has 'much more style' than his fathers. He keeps it relatively long in length, and some compare him to a younger Sirius in looks. Unlike his brother, James did not inherit his father's green eyes, but instead got his mothers chocolatey brown ones.
James has a narrow face, and is slightly freckled-- a fond reminder that he is in fact a Weasley as well as a Potter. Also inherited from both the Weasley and Potter sides, James is lanky, tall, but not very muscular. He stands a bit higher than his younger brother, and often worries that Albus will pass him in height. He has a swimmer's body-- broad shoulders, but a skinny torso and waist. As a child, he was a bit tubbier, but there remains no sign of that now.

Face Claim:Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Personality:
James is a Gryffindor—traits of the house of the lion are strong within.
He tends to be a courageous boy—though he has yet to discover ‘true’ bravery. Rather, he believes bravery to simply be the lack of fear and because of this can run into dangerous situations blindly, without thinking much of the consequences. With his mischievous streak, he is often getting himself in to sticky situations, but often with the help of his friends is able to weasel out of them. That’s not to say he hasn’t received his fair share of detentions.
He is a confident, if not arrogant child, though this hardly shows in his school work. This isn’t to say that James is not an intelligent boy—simply that he does not apply himself. To the subjects he finds boring, he will put nearly no effort. To those he finds interesting though, he dedicates his heart a soul. This could also be said about his pranks and other misadventures. Like his uncles, most would assume by simply looking at his grades that he doesn’t have the intelligence to pull of the advanced magic that are required for such pranks. However, he excels in areas he enjoys—a frustrating trait to someone like his mother and aunt Hermione.
He’s a bit narcissistic—he is the son of one of the most famous men in wizarding history, and that tends to rub off on him. He has often been compared to both of his namesake’s in that sense. He’s not above flirting with pretty girls, and once he sets his heart on a task—or lady—he puts everything into it. However, his arrogance and slightly inexperience with women tends to show when he flirts, and he is often or not rejected. He also seems to have inherited his Uncle Ron's lack of romatic timing, and has interfered more than once with someone else's love life.
Above most, he holds family and friends dear. He would die protecting his parents, and looks out for his younger brother and sister—though he himself is allowed to tease, if anyone else dared, they would be looking for a cursing. He is closer to his younger sister than brother, simply because he doesn’t like the friends his brother has chosen, and has more than once warned him to stay away from that group. He believes in truth and justice, hence why he wishes to be the leader of the Order of the Phoenix just like his father had been.

History and Details:
James Sirius Potter is the oldest child of Harry and Ginny Potter. Raised in a warm, rather large and loving family, James grew up always competing for the attention of his parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and eventually, younger siblings.
When his younger siblings had been born, he almost immediately took on the ‘older brother cliché’. He would tease and often torment his little brother, Albus. Though there did exist some brotherly appreciation between the two, it was often forgotten in their constant fighting and teasing. James—being the oldest child—gained a bit of independence once his little sister, Lily was born. After all, with a baby to take care of, the Potter’s were too busy to do more than scold James for picking on his brother before the baby called their attention away.
From his desire to be noticed emerged traits similar to his namesakes—James Potter and Sirius Black, as well as from his uncles, the George and the deceased Fred. He became a mischievous little child, plotting pranks to attract the attention to him at family gatherings and holidays. He often begged his mother to bring him to Uncle George’s joke shop in his youth, itching to get his hands on the newest joke or pranking goods.
During James’ youth, his parents rarely spoke about Harry’s past—after the war with Voldemort, Harry had wished to honor the past by not speaking much about it. This led to James’ confusion whenever they were out—his father and mother were always greeted and thanked on the street, and James could never figure out quite why. However, when James received his letter and was shipped off to Hogwarts, he discovered the real reason for his father’s fame. Being the first Potter child to go into Hogwarts, much intrigue surrounded him, and his popularity grew rather rapidly.
James, however, was somewhat distressed by the fact that his father’s name meant more to the students than his own. He wanted to be his own person—not just the son of a famous man. So he soon set to work building a reputation for himself. Soon he was known as a trouble-maker at Hogwarts—a reputation he had gained much like his namesakes.
His first year at Hogwarts was a bit hard on him—homesickness took hold, and James was sending home letters to his parents every week. Despite his popularity, it was quite difficult for him to make real friends—ones who didn’t care about his father’s fame, but rather were interested in him. By his second year though, he began to adjust better, finding a close-knit group of friends whom he was able to drag along with him on his pranking adventures.
Between his second and third year, he had heard his Uncle Ron mention something about a ‘map’. While investigating Harry’s office at the Ministry—under the prefix that he wanted to see ‘what his dad did at work’—he discovered the Marauder’s Map. After a long time of trying to figure out how to work it, he finally submitted to his Uncle George, who was happy to help him with his mischievous ways.
James had inherited both of his parents’ Quidditch and broom-riding abilities. Not interested in seeking, he would much prefer to be a Chaser. To him, the chaser position is much more action packed.
Seven years into his school career, he has become much more comfortable with who he is. He has accepted his father’s fame, and revels in it; though at the same time is happy being himself. After all, he is a Potter.
And trouble always finds the Potters.
