Personality:
Hero’s got problems, let’s just address that right off the bat. He was diagnosed as being clinically depressed, and has tried to kill himself approximately five times. Ever since he’s been on the most recent pills, however, it’s been better; once he was finally diagnosed by a wizard accurately, they were able to get him pills that helped quite significantly. He doesn’t really like the pills, however -- they make it so his appetite is practically non-existent, he gets nauseous really easily, and, sometimes, he’s unable to go to sleep.
Hero’s never the type to lash out at people. He doesn’t often resort to sarcasm to talk with people; if he doesn’t like someone, he’s often blatant about it and tries to avoid him/her. He doesn’t often dislike people, though. It’s not that he’s friendly with everyone, or even that he can tolerate them, he just tries not to judge people too much because he knows that there is probably something about them that he doesn’t know about, like him. He’s always aware of himself and of what he thinks people think of him, even if it may or may not be true.
When on the pills, Hero’s a bit of a quiet person, although he can often be coaxed into a friendly conversation. It’s when he’s on the pills that he can focus on schoolwork and homework and on having a social life, all at once. He sometimes even writes poetry when he takes his pills, but he doesn’t think that it’s very good compared to when he doesn’t. He likes to sing at times, but not when there are people nearby. He isn’t very confident, even less so when he’s off of his pills. But, when he is, he enjoys schoolwork and studying, taking pride in his grades and using it as a good channel to take his mind off of the depression. In this state, he’s the type of person that other’s like to study with, the type of person that people like to go to for notes. When not working on his grades, he might be found in the library, or even talking with some other people.
When he’s not on the pills, however, Hero’s pretty much silent. You’re lucky to find him in class, let alone paying attention. If he is in class, he’s most likely writing something else in class, probably another one of his poems. He doesn’t cut himself, because he finds it way too easy for someone else to notice. He normally goes for just hitting himself and attempting to bruise himself. When he successfully bruises himself, he often ends up prodding at it until he takes his pills. As a result, he often ends up bruised. If asked, he’d avoid any questions unless the person was someone he considered a friend.
Hero’s quite easy to get to trust you, so long as he’s taken his medicine recently. He’ll chat with you whenever you want it, and he’s a great listener. But he doesn’t often talk about himself. He considers himself (and he believes others consider him to be) the lowest of the low. It doesn’t that he’s never gone out with anyone or been kissed, or anything of the sort. He just tries to keep his opinions to himself for as long as possible. He doesn’t let people look at his poetry nor anything of the sort.

Family:
First and Last Name, muggle or witch/wizard, occupation
Mother: Johanna Frederic-Lysander. Witch. Mediwitch.
Father: Alexander Lysander. Wizard. Former Arithmancer. Arrested for killing and sent to Azkaban.
Siblings: None.
Others (list): None.
History and Details: Johanna and Alexander were sweethearts since Hogwarts. They were both in Gryffindor, same year, most of the same classes, everything. Johanna was a shy person at first, not sitting with anyone on the train for the first time, not talking to people in the Common Room, that sort of stuff. Alexander, however, was the complete opposite; he was loud and proud, always flirting with girls and trying to get them swooning over him. And, for the most part, failing.
Alexander never was able to focus, for the most part. He couldn’t normally focus on classes long enough to get outstanding marks, barely just skimming acceptable. But he did have a passion for Arthrimancy. The Alexander that Johanna fell in love with was the one that would sit in the chairs in the Gryffindor dormitory, struggling with his Arthrimancy and other homework.
It didn’t take long for Johanna to offer to tutor him in his subjects, but she asked for nothing in return, which he found quite odd. However, during the course of these tutoring sessions, Alexander fell in love with Johanna. In fifth year, they finally started going out. And they never broke up.
Alexander became an Arthrimancer. Johanna became a Mediwitch at St. Mungo’s. It took only three years after they left Hogwarts (and got married) that they had Hero Proteus Lysander. Hero was named after Hero, from the Shakespeare play Much Ado About Nothing and Proteus from The Two Gentlemen of Verona (his mother loved Shakespeare’s works).
When Hero was about five years of age, Alexander saw something during his Arthrimancy (which no one knows, to this day) that caused him to kill several muggles. It didn’t take long for Alexander to be found out. He was sent to Azkaban. Hero wondered why his father left, but he never got an answer until he was older.
When Hero was seven, his father escaped. The first place he went was to where Hero and Johanna were staying at that moment, and he kidnapped Hero in the middle of the night. He wasn’t kidnapped for long, though. The Aurors/Hit Wizards quickly found where Alexander was hiding out and went there. However, with them, they brought dementors.
So began the most traumatic experience of Hero’s life. When the wizards came to take Alexander, Hero could feel the dementors coming, could feel the coldness and the dark that surrounded them. Hero, not understanding why his father had been taken away from him the first time, refused to let it happen a second time. When the wizards came up, he refused to let them get him -- refused to tell them where his father was. The wizards, who had been corrupt, decided that the best way to either get Alexander out of his hiding spot or to find out where he was hiding was through Hero. So they proceeded to allow the dementors to give Hero the kiss.
It wasn’t very long before a silver gazelle, Alexander’s Patronus, made the dementors fall back. But by then, the damage had been done. Alexander gave himself up, but Hero never completely recovered. By the time he was twelve, it was quite clear that he was depressed -- over the course of that year, he tried to kill himself three times. He was pulled out of Hogwarts for the rest of the year (luckily, there was only about a month or so left), and, over that summer, he was able to meet with a sort of wizard psychologist/doctor, that was able to give him medicine that helped him with the dementor-brought on depression.
The pills weren’t a cure-all, though. They helped from day to day, but, if he forgot them for just one day, he was plunged into a state of depression for the day. And he had reasons to not take them -- the pills made it so he wasn’t very hungry, sometimes made it so he couldn’t sleep, and stuff like that.
In third year, he tried to kill himself once more (the fifth time happened over the summer between third and fourth year), but, after that, he became much better with his pills. He doesn’t have anything like what happened before happening any more, but, due to the fact that the dementor attack happened because he was trying to defend his father, he’s figured out that he wanted to be a hit wizard, to put away people that have committed evils like his father.

The soft patter of rain on the windows provided the perfect place to just sit and stare thoughtfully, which Hero took practically immediately. If one who knew him was to look at him, they’d think that he hadn’t taken his pills earlier, when he actually had. No, he was just thinking, stuck in the throes of his own head. At this point in time, it was a bad thing.
He closed his eyes, finding the sound of the rain tranquil. As soon as he did, however, the first thing he saw were the faces of the dementors. Their faces, the feeling of dread that surrounded them, everything. With a yelp, he opened his eyes again, flailing about a bit. There was no one else there at the moment, which was good -- had anyone seen him, they would surely ask, and he didn’t want to deal with it. Not at that moment.
Okay, so no eye-closing. That’s fine. He pressed a hand against the window quietly, watching as a handprint was formed. He smiled faintly, starting to doodle using his index finger. But he couldn’t shake the image of the dementors lurking there, stuck in the forefront of his mind. He bit his lip. He couldn’t even form a patronus. The idea of facing them scared him too much, to the point where he couldn’t even focus on a happy memory. A true phobia, for all intents and purposes.
School work. Yes, there had to be some of that lying around for him to do. He stood up and stretched, looking about the common room again -- still no one. It made him wonder briefly where they all were, but he realized that he didn’t really mind, to be frank.
He liked the silence.
