Your professor is Professor Neville Longbottom.
Your class? Herbology.
ENJOY!
(Do not begin 'lessons' until all students have arrived...or you're sure that someone has decided to be late.)

Liam stared at his schedule scornfully as he stormed out of the Great Hall. Stuck in first period Herbology with Longbottom, what a treat. The Professor still hated him for making a comment about Mudbloods in his class last year, even though he'd gotten perfect scores (or close to perfect scores) on every assignment and exam he'd completed for the class. Also, he would be stuck with the peppy Hufflepuffs & obnoxious Gryffindors...the Ravenclaws, he could mostly tolerate. Luckily, Luke would be with him, if it weren't for his twin, he would probably just cut the "Rules & Regulations" class and hang out in the Slytherin Common Room or somewhere else on the grounds.
He had forgotten to check if Luke was walking with him, he realized, but there was no point in even wondering. They'd find each other in class, they always did. The hallway that he was walking down was particularly crowded with obnoxious squealing students who refused to move out of his way, so he did the only thing he could think of to do. "Aures Radiculae" he muttered at one, chuckling at the radishes falling out of his ears. A few of the other students watched as whatever they were holding flew away to somewhere else in the hallway or outside.
Chuckling to himself, he turned his final corner and walked into the greenhouse where he would be attending his first class as a fifth year. Donning the same protective gear he'd always been forced to wear, he slouched up against a wall near the doorway, waiting for the other students to arrive. It seemed that he was the first one to enter, further proof that he was superior. At least he had a sense of punctuality, possessed the common knowledge that you had to arrive early to make any sort of an impression. Although in retrospect, he really didn't care less what Longbottom thought. If he got Detention again, well, that would just hold him back for an hour or two until he was free again.

Luke had been left behind in the Great Hall by his impatient brother. This made the younger twin frown eve so slightly, the lack of attention coming from his own brother. He had finished up his breakfast quickly, and tried to follow the elder, to find no trace of him except a few distressed students in a very busy corridor they took to go out to their Herbology class. He smirked a little, knowing by the kind of curse it was definitely his brother's work.
The hall had not cleared away... if anything, more people were in it now. Luke rolled his eyes, pulled out his wand and pointed it at the floor, smiling a little as his silent incantation took place. He turned around, not even bothering too much to see what the fate of those standing in the hall would be as they took their first steps in the slippery floor. He was already walking down another corridor when he heard thuds and some screaming.
Herbology was definitely not Luke's, or Liam's for that matter, favorite class, but Luke always stayed out of trouble, avoiding the things that professor Longbottom disliked as much as he could, though the bloodtraitor could stuff it if he thought Luke was going to work with a Hufflepuff. Liam instead got detention for a lot more things in this class.
He reached the exit to the castle and was met with obnoxious rays of sun in his face. He made his way down to the green houses, looking for his brother, who was probably the only one there. Luke found the greenhouse they'd be working in today and walked in, finding his brother already sitting with the protective gear on.

Angelo sighed softly having started walking the halls aimlessly, having already gotten his scedual from Professor Flitwick, after nearly running into the short Professor. Having no destination other than to think about what happened at breakfast. OK nothing interesting had happened, but that was strictly the point. Once Jay had made his entrance, he had started being ignored, by Lacey and Layla. Not that he ever let that show, but those two always had something to talk about when Jay was around. At about that point, he had started to feel ignored... not that he was trying to partake in the conversation, so that was in his own right, his own fault for that. And after Violet had appeared, he felt a third wheel, even after Violet left, he still felt like a third wheel, and after that one kid, Sochisfious... whatever his name was, came in and started heading over to their way, he felt like chopped liver. Which was why he escaped and left. Those were small stupid reasons why he hated being in Ravenclaw, he never felt like he truly belonged. That was Arri's department. He was the Ravenclaw after all. Same with the others, they were all fit for the houses he would of been put into if Arri hadn't taken control when the sorting hat was figuring out where to sort the DID wizard.... Don't get him wrong, he liked Ravenclaw, because his beloved twin, was placed in the same house as him, but now that she was gone. Being in Ravenclaw was losing it's significance, with each day that passed, Ravenclaw was losing it's significance to Angelo. Sure he had friends, was the seeker for Ravenclaw's quidditch team, and he was one of these smart students, who has the best grades in Hogwarts, but those were only going to get him so far, before they to lost the joy they once held within Angie's heart.
Angelo hadn't even noticed Luke, passing him in the halls easily. However what grabbed the DID wizard's attention were the sudden screams and thuds that reached his ears, just as he was about to follow Luke into Herbology class. Which had made him stop, turn around and follow the sounds back toward the corridor he had just left moments before Luke had arrived.
Angelo stepped out behind the corridor that he had just left(Barely missing getting slipped up by the charm that Luke had done). He tilted his head to the side in confusion. Several students were flat on their butts, stomachs or backs. His confused puppy look, had gotten him some glares from the students who had bothered to look in his direction. Before Angelo could turn around Ares couldn't pass up a chance like this to do some more damage, and had bribed Angie into giving him control, saying that he wouldn't do any more pranks for the day, if Angie just let him do this one little thing. Angelo relented. The brunets smile slowly turned into a devious smirk, as his light eyes darkened, taking on a darker shade with an evil gleam in his eyes. His rosewood wand was taken out of his robe sleeve. The wand glowed for a minute or two, before Ares quickly said a charm, and counter acted Luke's slippery floor idea, instead he made the floor sticky, so that the students were stuck there instead, before Ares turned around and walk down the corridor, laughing all the while, before he gave a very tired, disappointed and bemused looking Angelo back control.
Angelo's smile twisted into a frown, before he forced himself to smile again, and turned around to go back and fix what Ares had done. Angelo knew that if he went back, all he'd get are glares of hate and annoyance, but it was a risk he was willing to take. He stepped out of the corridor and pointed his wand at the sticky floor, before doing the counter charm, getting rid of the stickiness. The brown haired male muttered a quiet and sincere 'sorry', before he left down the corridor and toward the Herbology classroom. Angelo could hear Ares screaming at him in his mind. The starry eyed male was screaming how the deal was off, and how he was going to pull another prank and how Angie wouldn't screw it up for him. Which Angelo wasn't very happy about, but it's not like he could really control Ares like he could the others, because the other three listened to him, for the most part(Unless Artemas was furious about beating the hell out of someone who had harmed him(Angie or one of the others), of course.)
Once in the classroom. He was quick to spy Luke and Liam, but he said nothing to them, and quickly went to take his seat. Seeing as professor Longbottom wasn't here yet, he figured he'd wait quietly, as there was nothing else to do, but wait. If he got bugged by the snake twins, he'd gladly let Ares deal with them, as he was going to be present for much longer, because once class started Arri would be taking control soon enough.

Post by Briony Cauldwell on Nov 10, 2010 1:13:21 GMT -5
Briony Cauldwell rushed through the hallways, her slightly tamed hair whipping behind her. Her decision to grab something to eat from the Great Hall had proven to be a bad one, although her tastebuds argued something different. She had already polished off two donuts with sprinkles and was working on her third. Her route to the greenhouses was unusually busy for being so close to the time when classes started.
The people she passed on her way were grumbling about some floor problems, but she was in too much of a hurry to pay attention to them. Briony took another bite out of the chocolate donut as she ran into a sixth year. The guy practically growled at her, so she snarled back, viciously ripping another piece out of the donut. He looked at her as if she belonged in an asylum, and she grinned back at him. After an awkward stand still she put her hands on his shoulders and moved him out of her way. He looked back at her as she hastily jogged away.
She peeked in the designated greenhouse before entering with a large grin on her face. Angelo was already there, as were the twins that she hadn't even realized were two different people until last year. Briony practically flew over to a seat next to Angelo, setting her books down enthusiastically. "Hello there!" Her voice chimed out in the silence of the barely occupied room. "How're you? I haven't seen you around yet. Was your summer nice?" She asked in a rapid succession before she finished off her last donut. She frowned. "Sorry, did you want something or did you already eat breakfast? I would have brought extra, but I doubt you would have wanted that one. Cooties and all that."

A smile was placed on his lips, as he turned to look at her. "Hello, to you as well, Briony." He responded quietly, figuring he'd have to get use to her loud tone of voice again. Which he would be to soon enough?
The male's chill blue eyes brightened. "Same here. I haven't seen you till now? Where have you been?" He asked, as he tilted his head to the side to give her a quizzed look. Angelo kept his smile in place, as he shrugged his shoulders in response to her question on how he was. Honestly he wasn't feeling very good at the moment. "I'm fine." He responded. It was an honest lie, seeing as he didn't want to Briony to feel bad for him.
Angelo's smile almost wavered, with the sudden emotions that hit him. At that question about his summer left her lips. His summer hadn't been a very good one. It was fine, but there were times that he didn't know what to do with himself, and at times he hated going home for the summer, just as much as he found himself hating Hogwarts at times, because both places reminded him so much of his twin sister, Angel. At times he kept seeing her, walking though the halls happily chatting with her friends, just days before the summer that took her life from her, and at home, he couldn't help but remember her and the times they played together as kids and the times they had hung out just days before she lost her life at the hands of her own father. He lied about the scars on his back, and he had lied about how his twin sister died. He said it was because of a car crash, which robbed Angel of her life and gave Angelo the scars on his back. The subject of his sister was quite a painful one for him. "...It... was alright...." He responded, forcing his smile and forcing the cheerfulness in his tone. If one was paying attention, they would have been able to catch the hesitation and the pause in his voice when he spoke.
The DID wizard shook his head softly, a chuckle escaping his throat, despite the suddenly heaviness in his heart. "No thanks. I already ate." He said with a small laugh. His mood was always quick to bounce back, so as to not let anyone see him sad or down about something or another, even if that something/someone was his beloved twin sister.

It wasn't as if anyone in the room was really going out of their way to talk to the duo, but that wasn't much of a shock. Looking over at the simpering Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw, he took a quick second and a mumble, and suddenly, all four sets of shoelaces were intertwined. Was he becoming too predictable? It was time to refine his craft. More dangerous hexes, for example. Maybe it was time to befriend some of the older Slytherins, they definitely had more experience with these things. Unluckily, he was stuck with the other fifth years for now, so there was nothing he could do but sit back and hope the class ended quickly.
Turning to his twin, he chuckled at the way the boy looked in his Herbology attire, realizing that he probably looked similarly moronic. "Next year, we're placing out of Herbology, right?" He offered his brother a choice, as if somehow, without Liam's knowledge, Luke had gained a love for Herbology and deemed it his new favorite subject. That seemed wildly unlikely, and by the way that the Professor was shooting them nasty looks, their status within this classroom would also remain the same.
Looking around, he sighed, wondering if attending the class was just a waste of his precious time. After all, there were Mudbloods everywhere, blood traitors wandering around in their halls, perhaps even within the greenhouse. The thought sickened him entirely, and he felt himself wanting to leave. Once more, he admired his handiwork on the shoelaces, contemplating the fact that he was improving, becoming stronger and stronger daily. Hearing the shrill squeal that apparently consitituted a voice coming from the girl combined with the quiet monotone of the boy was truly beginning to aggravate him, but he could do no further without losing points for his house, which would be a disgrace.

Luke chuckled as he noticed shoe laces were retying themselves on the table next to theirs. He turned at the sound of his brother's voice, his twin looking ridiculous and awkward in the protective gear as much as he did. "Oh, please. Let's. I couldn't take another year of this ridiculous class, nor of all these mudbloods and traitors around us." he agreed, not caring if he was overheard by the other students.
The Rosier twins were disliked mostly by the other three houses, and not fully appreciated in their own, the way Luke saw it. It was a shame really, because they were among the best, but the older students, which he considered to be on the same level weren't really interested in younger ones that much. "We should start hanging out with older Snakes, yeah? I've had it with this, really." His brother and himself were the only respectable people in the room, really, and he knew they were destined for greater things than wasting their years at Hogwarts with mudbloods.
"This class is really idiotic." he said. He could hear the horrible pitch in which the Hufflepuff girl laughed and talked in, making him wince and want to send a curse her way. "Merlin is your voice annoying, Cauldwell." he said loudly, rolling his head back a little before smiling mischievously at his brother.

Briony smiled, he was so quiet. It was amusing, although she couldn't have said why if anyone asked. "I have been riding the train with Aisu and some lions, I was at the Gryffie party, although I missed most of the fun stuff that happened," As she listed the things off, she counted them on her fingers, making sure that she didn't forget anything because she assumed that anything she said would be of great interest to Angelo. "And then in the morning I walked in on Aisu flipping out on Allen, and then I turned Allen's eyebrows pink." She said cheerfully, her morning pissiness officially gone.
Briony's head tilted as he lied to her about how he was and how his summer was. She wasn't going to pry with Angelo though, there was no point. She wouldn't spread rumors about him, it would be like kicking a newborn puppy. Angelo was much too nice and she assumed that whatever had made Angelo depressed wasn't his fault and not of any interest to her gossipwise. She inwardly debated whether to act comfortingly or play dumb and act like she didn't notice at all. She went for the second and smiled. "Well that's good!" She exclaimed.
"So's your face, Luke," Briony said loudly, not looking at the pair of twins. "Or are you Liam? I can never tell," She giggled, proud of her insult. She knew that banter wasn't her strong suit, but she felt that her horribly bad insults were more endearing than mean anyway. Briony would much rather be liked than hated.
Briony's eyes shifted down, caught by the movement. She chuckled, is that really the best they could do? "It seems we've been all tied up, Angelo." She said with a smile at the boy who's shoelaces were intertwined with her own. If she had been mad, she didn't show it. She felt much more satisfaction in not letting stupid acts of dislike get to her, she knew they wanted her to get mad so she simply didn't let them have the satisfaction. She could always get back at them later with some piece of gossip.
She bent over, keeping her balance that had been honed by Quidditch so that they wouldn't topple over on top of each other. Although, now that she thought about it, that may be fun. Briony doubted that Angelo would have seen it as fun though, he would probably be so embarassed that he wouldn't talk for the rest of the class. Her hands set to work untying the overcomplicated knot that was really more annoying than mean.

Angelo smiled as well. “So that’s why I didn’t see you, on the train.” He commented well naturedly. “So that’s where you were, spending time with your friends. I hope you enjoyed it.” He said with a smile. A was a little miffed when she had mentioned the party, the very party that he hadn’t been invited to, which wasn’t any surprise really. After all who would invite a freak like him to a party anyway? He certainly wouldn’t, if he had been in their shoes. He however didn’t show his dislike or disappointment for not being invited; after all it wasn’t anything unusual. “Sounds like you had a fun time, at the party.” He commented.
He raised an eyebrow at the girl, when she commented on how the famous(Not as much as the Potters, Weasleys and Malfoys), blind wizard, Aisu Oki, flipping out on Allen Blackwell, another person who he had yet to meet personally, but had only known him, though the rumors of Briony Cauldwell. “Why was he flipping out?” He couldn’t help asking. Before the brown haired, blue eyed youth laughed softly. “You turned his eyebrows pink? Oh man I wish I had seen that.” He couldn’t help commenting a smile that showed his humor was spread across his lips.
Ange frowned when he heard Luke say something rude to his friend. What was their problem anyway? Couldn’t they go one class without being assholes to other people? Just once but maybe he was asking for too much of a miracle with those two Slytherin twins. Apparently not, because they had tired not only his shoelaces together, but also Briony’s as well, and their shoelaces were tired together, which was annoying really.
Angie wasn’t the type to get mad, and neither were Arri or Alec; however that didn’t stop Artemas and Ares from getting pissed about what they had done. Ares was pissed off because they had done it to Angelo, who they were the same person, and had the same body, so their antics had also been done to him as well, so that pissed the Slytherin alter off. And Artemas was just pissed off because someone had dared to harm not only Angie but also Briony as well.
The poor DID wizard wasn’t sure if this would start a fight between Artemas and Ares, and he was also worried about Artemas starting a fight with the twins, that would be very annoying, and he didn’t want to get in trouble. Angie could already feel a painful headache coming on, from how Artemas and Ares had started a fight with each other, over who would deal with the twins. And as much as Angelo wanted to get them to stop fighting, it was like trying to separate oil from already polluted water. It was near impossible for Angie and his two alters, who didn’t wish to get involved in one of Artemas’s and Ares’s expected but unpredictable fights.
Ares won over in the control department, by some strange feat of his, in fact the two were now probably tied in the scores of who got control more? Oh well he wasn’t here to keep score, Angie just wanted to get his headache to go away, and the only way to do that is to give Ares control and hope and prey to whatever higher power had cursed him, that Ares didn’t do anything stupid.
Angelo’s normally kind and gentle eyes had taken on a darker shade of blue, turning into a starry blue, signaling that Ares had taken control, because those dark eyes held mysteriousness’, cold but calm annoyance and mystery. Ares chuckled darkly. “No shit, Sherlock!” Ares growled at her, as he pulled his wand, and muttered a charm and untied their shoelaces, before muttering another charm and retying his shoelaces. Ares slipped his wand back into the folds of his robes, before he sent a small glare at the twins, before he took a step back and walked past Briony and over to the twins. “And you included me in your little predictable prank because?” He asked them, getting straight to the point with them. He wanted to know why they had tied up his (Or rather Angie’s, but still they shared the same body, so whatever happened to Angelo, happened to him as well), shoelaces, and he was far from pleased about it. He didn’t care about an apology or whatever; he just wanted the reasoning behind it.

Post by Layla Turner on Nov 14, 2010 1:07:43 GMT -5
Layla came running down from the Ravenclaw tower, she skipped down corridors to reach her class. Her eyes couldn't really focus on anything much as she ran, so her mind was pretty much blank except for thoughts of Sophocles, who had in fact talked to her first this morning. She was excited and couldn't wait to tell Briony about it.
She stumbled and fell as she reached the exit of the castle, which slowed her rythm a lot, and made her loose the focus she had. Her mind wandered to the step that had led to her fall, as she had never before fallen there. Part of her mind told her she was late again, so she picked up her stuff and started walking more slowly towards her class. She could see the greenhouses now, and she noticed Professor Longbottom walking into one of them already. She smiled as she walked a little bit faster, because she liked how the professor's hair looked.
As she entered the designated greenhouse, she noticed an oddly colored insect on the wall and stared for a bit, before she remembered the teacher had already arrived. "Oh, Hi Professor. I'm so sorry I'm late, I forgot my protective gloves in my trunk and then I fell and there's this yellow and blue bug on the door." she said, trying to explain. The professor nodded and smiled at her, asking her to please take a seat already.
She spotted a seat right next to Briony and she took it immediately, though it was close to her constant tormentors, the Rosier twins. "Briony! We've got loads to talk about! Hi again Angelo!" she greeted her classmates. She noticed that the two she was talking to were untangling their shoelaces... and then it wasn't Angelo anymore. Ares was out, which made Layla shrink back in her seat a bit.

Luke laughed at the stupid comment that Briony came up with as a response to his insult. "That's the best comeback you can come up with? It's a wonder you're passing any of your classes." he said with a smirk. "With the brain of a troll, how could you tell us apart," he added with a snort.
He saw with slight amusement as the Hufflepuff girl tried to untie the laces hopelessly, before his eyes turned to the boy standing next to her, noting that it was no longer the meek, shy boy speaking, but Ares. Annoyed Ares, at that, which made Luke smile a little more.
Luke was not fazed in the slightest by the alter's harsh tone, only thinking it mildly amusing too."We were bored and annoyed, plus getting you out is more fun." he said, quickly explaining without lying. This was after all one of the most boring classes and their professor was an annoyance.
Talk about annoyances, the professor had arrived, along with another idiotic girl. "Well if it isn't our favorite Squib." he said, smiling a bit. Layla had always been afraid of the twins, yet for someone who wanted nothing more to do with them, she sure stared a lot. He turned to his brother with a mischievous, small grin, just to see what he had in mind.

Liam took a similar stance to his brothers, pausing before to laugh harshly, feeling the grotesque shaping of his mouth into a cruel smile, one meant to intimidate the simpering babies that stood before him and nearby him. "Either way, Miss Cauldwell," he began, for he tended to be respectful to the opposite gender, "We both have superior intellect to you. Try using an insult not popularized by an exceedingly immature first year and I'll consider being impressed by your efforts to not resemble a confused baboon." The girl could barely untie the knot, and he'd gone easy on her, making it only slightly challenging. Clearly Hufflepuff's standards had fallen even lower than they already were.
Standing up to flaunt his height, he stared straight into Ares' eyes, dissecting the meaning of his question. It seemed like the best idea to hex his quasi-friend into oblivion, but of course, that would not do, Unforgivable Curses would get him much more than Detention. Scowling, he responded, "As my brother intoned, there is absolutely no reason why I should not be allowed to include you in our prank. However, the question that truly arises is more pertaining to why you're protecting a Hufflepuff."
As Briony nearly tumbled into the classroom, Liam snickered, wondering how the girl hadn't managed to accidentally fly out a window. "Ah, Laila. Do tell, how was your summer? Did you view an interestingly colored fly, dear Squib?" Taunting her was a hobby that the twins had engaged in since their first year at Hogwarts, as she was an extremely easy target.

Briony raised an eyebrow, the way he said 'your friends' as if he wasn't included in the group was odd. She considered him a friend, she considered anyone she talked to for more than two seconds a friend as long as they could be construed as friendly. "Allen kissed him," She said conspiratorially.
"At least I have a brain," Briony said under her breath, not really expecting either of the twins to hear her. She looked up as Angelo, or rather Ares, swore at her. She disregarded it, she had more pressing matters to attend to. First of all, the professor had walked in, a sign that she should lower her voice a few notches lest she get a detention on the first day of classes. The second, and much more important, being that her best friend had just walked in the door.
"Laylaaaa!" She whispered loudly, stretching out the last syllable. "We sure do! I need to tell you about the party and my summer and... Everything!" Briony exclaimed as quietly as she could, but her voice would always be very audible no matter how hard she tried to cover it up. The thought of her best friend brought on thoughts of her other good friend in her year. Where was Jon? He was probably skipping, but the thought that she might not see him right away today made her frown.
Briony turned to glare at the twins, they had done the unspeakable deed, bothered one of her friends. True, Ares was already berating them about the shoelaces, but that was more mischievous than actually mean and didn't bother her. Calling Layla a squib? That was unforgivable. She drew her wand and pointed it threateningly at the pair, all thoughts of negating detention lost from her mind. "Call her a squib one more time, Rosiers, I dare you." Briony hissed, her wand already excited into action and spitting gold sparks in their direction.

Ares smirked. “Confrontation is always one of the ways to get me into control, but it’s not the only way you know, Angie will willingly give me control freely, to hang out with my friends.” He responded calmly, his tone wasn’t as harsh as before, seeing as Luke had been the one to answer him first.
However Ares’s smirk turned deadly as he glared his dark blue eyes at the other twin, Liam, as the boy had insulted him and said he was protecting a Hufflepuff, which wasn’t false, because he wasn’t! He had only been protecting himself and Angie(Not that he will admit that to the twin’s faces, lest he want them teasing him or angering him to the point of where he’d hex both of them into oblivion). Ares continued to glare at Liam, anger and rage dancing his eyes. “I am not protecting that stupid half-blood!” Ares was quick to give Liam a tongue lashing. “I only did it so I wouldn’t be stuck with her, while she wasted time untying the damned knot!” Ares was quick to defend himself, he wasn’t lying, and he was pretty sure the twins knew it as well.
Ares rolled his eyes at Briony’s response to the twins calling her friend a Squib. He gave the twins a smirk, as he too, took up the chance to throw Briony for a loop. “What are you going to do about it? Huh you stupid badger? Yes what in Merlin’s name will you and that stupid Squib do to us, if we don’t stop, hmm?” Ares purred in utter glee, as he took out his wand. God was he ever eager for a fight. Yes he wanted a fight, he hadn’t been able to do much, and fight would just be far too good to pass up, especially one as easy as this.

Post by Rome Kingston on Nov 16, 2010 0:26:31 GMT -5
Rome saw no reason to get to class on time. Herbology was possibly the class that he hated the most of all, the one that he saw no purpose nor use for; he hated it. No one wants to learn about plants. No one cares about plants, quite frankly. The fifth year sighed as he walked towards the greenhouse, not caring about the time in the slightest. He saw no rush to make it to Herbology.
Why did he hate it so much? Well, if any old person asked him, he’d just tell them that it was boring; it made sense, yeah? Who wants to learn about plants? But the truth was, it traced back further than that. He used to love it. He loved the plants, how they contained life similar to ours without even looking remotely human. He loved how they could be used in any sort of fashion, everything. But…Herbology was Lukis’s favorite. For the entire third year, they had it together; they always teamed up in it, they always did the homework together in the common room, and Lukis always loved to talk about it. He loved plants that year. And then, by the next year, they were horrible creatures that never should have existed.
He looked out at the grounds while walking to the greenhouse. He would have gladly skipped the class, gone somewhere else, anywhere. Quite frankly, he would have preferred the Forbidden Forest over anything in the greenhouse. At least then he’d be able to write a bit without being interrupted. But it didn’t really matter, now, did it? He let out a slight sigh, shaking his head to himself. He was an idiot sometimes. How was he supposed to pass his O.W.L.s if he kept up this attitude?
Oh gods, the O.W.L.s. The bane of his existence. He wasn’t going to be passing most of his classes; he would probably be able to pull an O for Defense Against The Dark Arts and History of Magic, but nothing else, most likely. No matter how much he tried, he was certain he was going to fail most of the classes. But he didn’t care. It wasn’t like he knew what he wanted to be.
He stared at the entrance to the greenhouse. The moment he walked in, it would be all over. Everything he had cherished over the summer vacation. The moment he walked in, he would be just another cog in the goddamn machine, expected to do the “best he can!” God, those cheery voices sickened him. But it didn’t matter anymore.
The fifth year Slytherin walked into the greenhouse silently, taking a seat near the back and putting his stuff down, not even bothering to look at the other people that were there. Most likely, there wasn’t going to be anyone he actually liked; in fact, the voice of that annoying Hufflepuff seemed to solidify that theory. And who was that she was speaking to? That Layla girl who was also annoying? Wow, it was a headache class, wasn’t it?
He looked up and saw them. Luke and Liam. Rome almost got back up and walked right out of the classroom, disgusted by their very appearance. But there seemed to be something going on with them and…was that Angelo or was it one of his alters? Well, he was being confrontational, so it wasn’t him…from the tone of voice, it had to be Ares. Yeah, that was it. He snickered lightly at the three of them. Oh, this was going to be an interesting year.

Layla had smiled wide and bright at her best friend as they striked up their little conversation, that was sure to be called out on at any minute by the professor since Briony was never, ever quiet. The brunette was better at being a bit more quiet, but she got excited easily... And that was just what was happening. "Oh Merlin, totally! The party, I heard that so much went on there? And then there's this morning, I have to tell you about, my summer was not very interesting, though. I bet yours was. There was a funny colored spider near the door of this greenhouse." she whispered excitedly.
Sadly, the Rosier twins were already going at it with her. Both of them had instantly called her out as a squib, which always made her feel awful, but she knew she wasn't, seeing as she got her letter to Hogwarts... yet her magical abilities lacked sometimes, and her mind was everywhere, so she didn't get good grades, like those two did and often bragged about. The one she knew was Liam, due to his harsher personality was already mocking her about noticing small, weird little things like the spider just now, and she felt herself shrinking down on her seat even more.
"I... I'm not a... squib," she barely whispered, but her voice was greatly drowned out by Briony's own, defending her valiantly. Layla's eyes were wide, but she was looking down at her lap, feeling stupid for not being able to defend herself against their harsh words, which made her feel awful... every time a bit more. And there was Briony, defending herself and Layla too, which she was thankful for, but made her feel slightly unworthy.
Ares was joining in the horrible discussion now, which made her look up once again, but the fear was evident in her eyes. Her mind noticed several things at once; Rome entering the class in the background, the twins mischievous smiles and Ares' threatening tone, and professor Longbottom talking about the pots in front of them, but she couldn't really make out what he was saying, other than the earth was still soft, and that didn't tell her much.
She placed a hand on Briony's outstretched arm, and tried to pull it down gently. "Bri, uh... we're in class, and the teacher and they're being... don't? It's not... worth it, you know." she said, trying to make as much sense and not mix up too many things at once to avoid further teasing, which probably didn't work very well.

"Yes, we know... but it gives this bleak class some interest, you know." said Luke at Ares' answer of how to get him out. Then the alter had turned nastily on his brother, which made Luke stop smiling that pleasant smile he had been wearing earlier. Of course he wasn't pleased at the tone the other boy was taking with Liam, but he couldn't help but feel something... something that would make him smile, in seeing that they weren't any closer than they had ever been. Luke shook his head, he really needed to stop thinking about those things.
He rolled his eyes at the comment, showing he understood but thought the reaction was too much for the simple action. The next action of the little Hufflepuff girl made him actually laugh a little. She was threatening them? "Oh, please, Cauldwell. Do you really think you can threaten us? You'd be spending the week in the infirmary, really." he said, quite amused. "Your friend here is a Squib, she can't even raise her voice to defend herself, let alone her wand."
Luke enjoyed watching Layla struggle with her words, and after years of tormenting the girl, he knew if they pushed further, she'd get more nervous making the whole thing a lot more fun. He smirked Ares' way, it was a lot more fun this way. He pulled his wand out from his robes lazily, waving the arm he'd pulled it out with lazily, for the two girls to see it.

Liam looked quickly to his brother, his eyes showing a scowl beyond his usual fury. Rome had arrived, and of course, he wanted to murder the boy, wanted to see his blood spattered on the floor, especially if some of it dripped upon the Squib in the corner. He found himself exceedingly frustrated with the idiocy of the students in his year, and their general ignorance. Why did he even bother associating with these imbeciles? It seemed to be a waste of his time and energy, especially when he had so many years ahead of him that he needed the strength and power for. Relaxing, he sat down, nodding to his brother.
"Luke is right," he intoned quietly to Ares, a small smile on his face, "Anything to starve off the terrifying boredom of this class." Exhaling, he turned to the clearly agitated Briony, chuckling slightly, "You'll spit golden sparks at us? Turn our skin green? Really, I'm just petrified with terror, especially considering the state of your wand and apparent mental sanity." The girl seemed to have relatively noble intentions, but her nobility was manifesting itself in a terrible bravery that was entirely falsified.
Layla had clearly given up on their little battle, the girl was practically writhing in terror. A part of him wondered if they had gone too far, after all, respect for the opposite gender was generally something that he and his brother attempted to engage in--although Squibs hardly counted as human beings to him. However, he decided not to continue Luke's comment, instead opting to snicker, while drawing his wand, placing his wand arm parallel to his brothers'. The two were unified in whatever action, no matter if they discussed it or not.

Briony watched Ares and the Rosiers talk, it was odd. At times they treated each other like comrades, being cordial if not friendly. At others it was like they held as much distaste in each other as they did in Briony and Layla. Ares had called them his friends, but they didn't act like any friends Briony had ever known. Slytherins were so weird.
Briony glared at Ares as he turned on her, smirking at her threats. "Well, I could try and hex you..." She said, her voice trailing off while she thought of the desirable possibilities. Turnips falling out of their orifices, hair growing to an absurd length, paralyzing them. If only she were adept at magic. But this was no matter, really. "But I think a punch in the face would work just as well, don't you?"
Turning around slightly to be able to hear Layla despite her quiet tone, a frown emerged on Briony's face. "Layla, I'm going to get a detention soon anyway, and they don't get to just... Step all over you like this," She faced back towards her foes, an angry expression still on her face. She was outraged that people thought they could get away with bullying, even this annoying low key kind. And Layla, she was just taking it.
And there was Luke, threatening her right back. "At least I would be able to bring you with me," Briony said with a shrug and a smirk. She knew she couldn't win if put against Liam, Luke, and Ares. But she would probably be able to inflict some damage if it came to that. She didn't know if violence would be a good idea, especially if she was going to try and avoid detention for today, but the way Luke was flaunting his wand, trying to intimidate them. It was arrogant and frankly, kind of annoying.
"Just for you, Liam, I would probably set a patronus on you," Briony told him, "That's supposed to scare your kind, right?" She didn't really remember which creatures patronuses were supposed to repel, but she was sure it was something undesirable like the twins. Her eyebrows flickered up in fear as they both put their wands out; it was one thing to think about going to the infirmary for a week, it was quite another to be faced with actually doing it. Her eyes flickered back to an expression of anger, but it was weakened by her moment of fear.
