Go ahead and role-play yourself into the compartment if you belong here...you can start role-playing once everyone in this scene is here.

OOC/ Continued from Scorpius/Aspen conversation in the Kings Cross intros board.
BIC/ Scorpius turned, noticing Aspen suddenly standing beside him. He hadn't seen her all summer, but was happy to see her all the same. They'd been friends for years.
"Oh, Aspen, hey. It's good to know I'm not the only one with freaks for parents; yeah, muggle watching like usual, but what else is new," he said, glancing over at her. A smile reached his lips. Aspen looked good as usual, and he was really glad to see her. He ran his fingers through his silver-blonde hair, scratching the back of his head. He grinned even more when he caught Aspen smiling at him like that; he knew that smile.
"Vacation was the same as usual. You know, the parents being stupid like they always are, but still kind of great at the same time. It was kind of boring actually, my family didn't do that much. How was yours?" he asked, his cool gray eyes looking away for a moment to find a spot to enter the train. He could tell even from outside the Hogwarts Express that the compartments were filling up fast.

Aspen felt her heart stop, it would been far too good to be true, had she managed to go unnoticed boarding the train go to Hogwarts. Her eyes darted to the ground, her hands subconsciously clenched into fists. Her eyes and shifted color, to a pale green color, a clear sign she was upset. She heart speed up, pounding her chest, as she felt the eyes of several of 'them' on her, she'd even caught a few of them boldly staring her down. She was thankful, Scorpius had looked to watch several of the students in front of them board the train.
As she sucked in a shaky breath, did she realize they had assigned seating, their could be a possibility that they didn't share the same compartment. She was filled with a sense of dread, she didn't find the option of being alone with the group, whom had yet to figure out what to do with you, did they kill you? Or perhaps see you useful enough to get you on their side. They had yet to gage her worth, so they kept their distance to simply watching, waiting to make their decision. She was carefully, to blink, to allow her heart rate to slow down, back to a slightly faster pace, then normal. She hoped her eyes had changed back to their normal, cross between green and brown.
"I can't say much for my summer was any better" she said with an easy smile, on her lips. Her eyes had a few flicks of the lighter color resting in their depths, but it wasn't too terribly noticeable. She'd found her summer rather enjoyable, she'd been able to sleep somewhat peacefully at night...well except for her nightmares of course, or her cases of insomnia as school loomed all that much closer, as the days passed her by. "What compartment are you in?" she questioned, hoping her voice was a bit more normal then it had been a little earlier.

He arrived at one of the compartments of the train with Aspen beside him, letting her get on the train first. If there was anything his parents taught him about being a Pureblood, it was being a gentleman.
"I think I'll sit in compartment A," he said, lifting his trunk up onto the train with him after he got on. He pulled it behind him with Aspen walking in front of him, trying not to stare. Aspen had always been attractive; every thought so, even Scorpius, but she definitely hadn't any worse over the summer. He had learned the difference years ago about having feelings for someone and just being attracted to them...he felt like a jerk about it with Aspen, since they were good friends but he didn't feel anything for her except for physical attraction. He had feelings for her near the beginning of last year, but they had long since faded.
He ruffled his messy hair with his fingers as he waited for the line down the aisle to thin out so they could keep moving forward. If he hadn't wasted so much time trying to get his parents attention, he would've been able to beat the rush. But still, it hadn't been his fault that his parents enjoyed making fun of Muggles so much that they would ignore their precious only son on the last day they would see him for months.

Grayson sullenly sauntered onto the train after saying goodbye to his family, careful to put difference between himself and GG. He didn't even consider them family at Hogwarts; they usually stayed well out of each other's way, an unspoken agreement that one was to leave the Common Room if the other was there first, so with luck, he wouldn't have to speak with her until Christmas.
He sighed, realizing he had no idea who he was going to sit with. Sometimes, he just sat with acquaintinces, not really having any close friends, but sometimes he also chose to sit alone. He quickly figured out that all of the compartments were full or halfway full with people he didn't like, so he started observing to see what he least painful would be. Finally, looking in compartment A, he spotted Scorpius Malfoy and Aspen Cross. That might not be too bad. He carefully opened the door and asked in a quiet voice, "Hey, would it be alright if I sat in here?"

Aspen turned her attention to the younger boy, whom had asked in quiet voice if he could sit in here with them. She smiled that all too easy smirk and answered his question. "Sure, I don't bite. Have a seat" she told him brushing her fingers through her dark brown hair and closing her eyes for a moment to collect herself.
She sat by the window, she'd momentarily glanced into it, and frowned spotting her brother, speaking with several slytherin house mates, whom she didn't like. She immediately turned her attention back to Scorpius and Grayson. She was trying to find out if perhaps she and this boy had met before, other then in classes. She came to his name Grayson Carter, other then that he was about 15 and of the Ravenclaw house, that was about all that she knew of him. She wondered if perhaps she might learn a bit more. She'd work on what Scorpius knew at a later date, as he seemed to have no knowledge of anything yet. She watched her brother out of the corner of her eye, as her brother laughed and joked with these people that must be some of his friends, or at least people he knew. He was being polite, not overly open like how he'd be with his real friends. As they departed heading for the train to board. She caught the gaze of several of the members, they were staring at her, openly, it seemed they were still deciding what to do with her.
She turned her eyes to the floor, a silent sign of submission. She felt a shudder go through her body. "I hope we leave soon" she said with a sigh, as she began to twist a strand around her index finger, a rather nervous habit she possessed that she did without any real conscious thought.

Scorpius glanced up as someone else entered their compartment. Scorpius thought his name was Grayson, and was pretty sure he was in Ravenclaw. He didn't know much else about him, considering they didn't have any classes together since Grayson was younger than him. However, Scorpius had never had a problem with Grayson before; he seemed very quiet and kept to himself.
"Yeah, of course," he said to Grayson, chuckling at Aspen's response. "What she meant was, if you're lucky she won't bite. But don't worry, she's mostly harmless," he said, flashing a smirk in Aspen's direction. She didn't seem to be really paying attention; she was staring out the window, and it looked like she was looking in her brother's direction. He thought he would ask her about it later when Grayson wasn't around, just in case.
She looked sort of uncomfortable to Scorpius, and he wondered what was wrong. "Yeah, me too...I can't wait to get back to Hogwarts. I'll have to leave you guys soon for the Prefect's compartment, but I won't be there the whole time," he assured them. He didn't know how well Aspen knew Grayson, if at all, and didn't really want to leave them alone if that would be awkward for either of them. Not that Aspen was awkward with many people, and she seemed alright with Grayson being there, but still.

(OOC: Ref. Rose Weasley's post in Compartment C that she left Albus behind with his friends.)
They all had different friends, he mused, as he knocked on the compartment door politely in warning before sliding it open. There had been only three shadows he could make out through the unclear glass of the window anyways, so there was definitely enough room for another person - himself - to sit in with them.
To his delight he was greeted with the familiar shiny blond hair of Scorpius Malfoy as well as the dark brown of Aspen Cross, both close friends of his. The last character in the compartment took longer to recognize, but eventually his mind concluded on the name of Grayson Carter, a Ravenclaw who was younger than the three Slytherins. Ah, no bother. But it proved his previous thought true; Rose and him really had grown a little apart over the last five years of Hogwarts. He will have to rectify that this year.
He stood at the doorway, amusement showing on his face as he caught the concerned look on Scorpius' face, directed at Aspen who was looking uncomfortable. Albus had also caught the last few words of Scorpius' speech, which nearly made him smirk, though he could have sworn his best friend's feelings for Aspen had dissipated at the end of last year. Maybe something happened over the summer?
"You needn't worry too much, Scorpius. I'll keep them company." He let the smirk show on his face this time, and he nodded to the Ravenclaw, and greeted Aspen. "Hello Mr. Carter; Ms. Cross, my lovely lady." He cheekily blew her a kiss.

Aspen turned her gaze sharply too the door. She hadn't been paying it much attention, so the sound of the door opening had taken her off guard. Her eyes shown with a panicked look, before focusing on who had walked in. Her eyes closed and a grin slid across her face. "Albus what a pleasant surprise" she said covering up her fear, as she kept her voice light, teasing. Her eyes opened in time to see that he had blown her a kiss, oh wasn't he just the charmer.
She had mixed feelings about going back to Hogwarts. She'd even asked her parents if she could stay home this year. They had given her very funny looks, and immediately sent her, to her room, so they could discuss this sudden change. Of course she'd be going back, this year, it would shame them publicly if she didn't go. She was unprotected this year...this year was going to be different, she could feel it. Her thoughts had began drifting again, as she sat with her head against the window, and casually twirling her wand in her fingers.
She didn't allow herself to be distracted for long, as the train blew it's final whistle before they had started to leave the station. She blinked, turning her gaze back to Albus and Scorpius, it seemed he would be leaving soon, to go to the perfects compartment. This news made her glad that Albus had shown up, this would make it so she wasn't completely alone with Grayson, she didn't dislike him, he just seemed well, it had nothing to do with how he seemed, it was the simply fact she couldn't trust him. As her thoughts continued the reality of this was...it was well that really perhaps she couldn't trust either of her friends.
"Don't worry we won't kill each other in your absence Scorpius" she teased lightly. She forced her thoughts away as she focused on everyone here. "So how was your Summer?" she questioned Albus, although her gaze would slide to both of the other two boys in the compartment. In her fingers still twirling was her wand. She couldn't afford to be without, not now. Perhaps she was just over reacting, although it didn't seem to be that way. "Do you think we have a few teacher for DATA?" she asked them curious, last year, well they'd lost their last teacher, he'd quit as soon as the year had been over.

"Alright, alright!" Scorpius laughed. "Forgive me for caring," he said, shaking his head. It was so good to see Albus after not being around him over the summer; they were close. And Albus being here definitely took some weight off his shoulders about the potential awkwardness between Aspen and Grayson. Albus would balance them out at the very least.
Scorpius let out a small sigh of relief. He had enough on his shoulders without having to worry about Aspen, so he was glad he had one less thing to think about. Things had gotten complicated with him over the summer; he'd spent too much time thinking, and now he was distracted. He hoped he would have time to take a minute and sort out his thoughts, at least somewhat, before he came back to this compartment from the Prefect's compartment...if anyone could notice Scorpius' distracted mood, it was Albus, and for the moment, Scorpius wasn't really ready to talk about it.
That was the problem with him, although he didn't see it as a problem himself. Scorpius often had a hard time making decisions, and he tried not to let this show until after he made up his mind. Because of this, he often spends a lot of time thinking about things and going over them again and again in his head, without telling anyone, even Albus. He didn't want to have any biased opinions affected his decisions. He thought it was a fair way to form his own opinions, but at the same time it bothered him to leave Albus out of it.
There would definitely be some alone time for Scorpius when he got back to Hogwarts; he planned to escape somewhere on the first night and sort out his thoughts once and for all, so he wouldn't have to worry about anything for the time being.

She had closed her eyes the moment he walked in, Albus noticed. That was unusual – Aspen only did that when she wanted to hide the change of colour in her eyes whenever she was upset. She was even twirling her wand in her hand – she didn’t have it out often either. Something was definitely up. ‘And now Scor has a valid reason to look concerned instead of confused feelings.’ The second Potter child thought. But now was not time to pry, not with the extra set of ears in the compartment.
His ears caught the blond boy’s sigh of relief as well, after he had joked with Aspen. Most would never be able to tell, but the fine, almost invisible twitch of a blond eyebrow told Albus that Scorpius was distracted about something – perhaps he was having a hard time making decisions, again. It wasn’t that common, but most of the time when Scor was distracted, that was probably the reason. And he didn’t bother opening his mouth again to continue talking, so it was safe to assume that he wanted to finish thinking it – whatever it was – through.
“My summer was okay, as per usual,” He replied lightly. “James was fairly bouncing off the walls like every summer we’ve ever had, and Lily was herself. I went over to the Weasleys often, since I couldn’t spend time with you two.” He fairly accused of them in that last sentence, but with a teasing smile and twinkling green eyes. His words were vague, but they held just the hint of worry in them. He was letting the other two Slytherins know that he had identified that something was up and wrong.
“I’ve heard from my father that we do have a new DADA professor…Shardae or something like that. A half-blood.” Albus answered the girl’s last question quietly, though the last part was nearly a whisper. He had nothing against half-bloods, as he was one himself, as well as most of the Wizarding World’s population, but there were still a few purebloods about that couldn’t give a Knut about them. Thank Merlin Scorpius and Aspen weren’t any of those people.
"How were your summers? I didn't hear much from you two. I hope you didn't get into any...trouble." He sent a provocative wink at Scorpius.

Aspen grinned, sliding deeper into her chair. She brushed her hair back with her free hand, the other kept twirling her wand between her fingers, all the way to her pinky, and then back up to her index finger. She didn't have much to worry about...at least so long as she stayed in this compartment for the ride back to Hogwarts. She needed to think of something... a way to be protected while she slept, and also a way to found out information. She frowned ever so slightly. She knew of a way...it was a way, that would make her reputation oh so much worse, but really it couldnt' get any better. It would only make the rumors about her true...this was....this was going to be something she had to do. She cast a glance as Scorpius and Albus, before looking at the boy Grayson. He hadn't said much since he'd gotten into their compartment.
She couldn't help but laugh at hearing how Albus had spent his summers, oh he was quite the daring one. She wouldnt be sure how long she could survive the Weasley's house, not that she was ever there. She didn't hangout with anyone other then these two. She would probably get along rather well with a lot of people, had she not cut herself off, started making scenes and starting problems to become the center of attention. She did this merely for her own protection, the Death Eaters would be able to get to her, if everyone was watching. "It sounds like you have been busy" she said, although she didn't envy him. She had been able to sleep peacefully...until school started to loom ever nearer.
"Do I look like I'd get into any trouble?" she asked him innocently, as she batted her eyelashes at him, and held her free hand to her heart. She laughed, at how ridiculous she must have seemed. "My summer was uneventful. I just laid low, slept most of the time" she said with a shrug of her shoulders. She clenched her teeth, after she spoke, that hadn't been the rigth thing to say, it was unlike her not to have done something. Although lying to them left a sour taste in her mouth, she wasn't used to lying to them, about something that was so simply to answer, that she'd told them the truth, the truth being that she had practically hidden the whole summer, that would bring up red flags, she silently cursed herself. She'd lost her concentraction and her wand slipped from her fingers and hit the ground. She sighed before reaching down and picking it up, simply giving it the once over, to see if it was damaged, although she knew it wasn't she was just simply stalling for time.

Scorpius was laughing again, this time as Aspen's response to Albus's 'trouble' question. This was mostly because Aspen absolutely did look like the kind of girl who would get into trouble...not that that was a bad thing, at all. However, she was apparently a very good actress, because for a moment there she actually did look sweet and innocent.
He noticed Aspen was acting weird today. He knew her well enough that he could pick up hints from her, and right now he knew something was wrong. He could hear it in her voice, in her responses...and she also dropped her wand. She just seemed really nervous to Scorpius, and he was worried about her.
"Great, another Defense professor...I wonder what Shardae's like. I hope he's not old, the last thing we need is a boring teacher for one of the best classes," he said, changing the subject to something that would hopefully be less uncomfortable for Aspen. He decided he would try to talk to her about this later when they were alone, just to see what was up with her.
He felt almost paranoid, as though there were all different kinds of tension pushing him around. He has his own issues and thoughts that he needed to figure out, and now he had Aspen to worry about. He wasn't annoyed by this at all, but it did make him slightly more stressed out.

Albus, tired of standing now, shifted his carry-on luggage and put it on the rack, thinking all the while. Out of the corner of his eye he observed Aspen continue playing with her wand, and tuck away a lock of stray hair. She was worrying about something like the rest of them, though whatever was on her mind appeared to be a lot worse than what Albus, or even Scorpius, could come up with. The frown looked odd on her face; she was contemplating something that she didn’t want to, if the crinkle in her brow meant anything.
He was startled when she replied to his brief and vague recount of his summer. “While busy wouldn’t be the word I would use, I suppose you could say that.” Thank goodness their voices were calm; he wouldn’t want to know what the Ravenclaw that sat with them thought of them – they were known for their smarts, but he didn’t know if the kid could tell that they were...well, worried. ‘And each of us about our own little thing...’
He laughed along with Scorpius and Aspen at her innocent act, but watched carefully as she shrugged her shoulders, speaking of what, sleeping most of the time? This was getting weirder and weirder of Aspen – she was almost never like this. He knew that when they got to a secluded and private room at the castle, Scorpius and himself would be asking her questions and worrying like no tomorrow. The clatter of her wand broke his train of thought, and he simply sat down next to Scorpius and thought about all that she said. There were mines littered all over this playing field, and red flags pointed them out.
“My father said he’s quite young, really. He shouldn’t be boring; I’ve heard he’s also the new Head of Gryffindor. Headmistress McGonagall finally relinquished her hold on that House.” He chuckled lightly, finally turning to a topic that wouldn’t – shouldn’t – cause any worry. Not for them at least. He knew where his own thought lay, when it wasn’t fussing over those two. Being a mother hen was a genetic trait, he concluded.

Although Grayson was sitting in their compartment physically, mentally he was only half listening to the conversational banter and charming. He knew these three people, but they were only classmates-nothing too significant to him in the long run. He could have tried to mingle more, but the fact of the matter was, he just had no motivation. It didn't matter to him that there was not a single person in the world that he could talk to. Somewhere very deep down inside, he did care, but in this moment, he could not pluck up the initiative to do something about it. He gazed out of the moving train that was speeding smoothly along the tracks, and pictured an expansive, empty meadow; he pictured himself lying in that meadow, free of everything; there were no bratty sisters, biased parents. There were no irritating teachers or boring classes. There were no expectations. Sometimes, he wished he could disappear to the meadow without words to anyone, freeing himself from a lifetime of burden and expectation.
As if.
Aware that he was probably looking like a comatose idiot, and of the reality that he was not truly free from any expectations, every once and a while, he would smile slightly at the other's words; nodding along to something he agreed with, murmuring assent in all the appropriate places. He still, however, lacked the ability to care.

Aspen latched onto the bait they held infront of her face. She threw herself into the conversation about the new Dark Arts teachers. Anything to get the subject off herself. She had screwed up, rather royally in fact. This was huge, and the only way she was going to avoid this was if she ditched them the second she had the chance, although that wouldn't be a good idea, she was a walking target for someone if they so choose that she was no longer needed, her games no longer to their amusement. She might be more of nuisense rather than, of any assistance, the truth was she knew far too much.
"If he's young, well I'm sure he'll be cute" she said with a laugh. "I can see the girls flocking to him already" she said laughing. "Yes, Shardae, that rings a few bells, my father knows him...well not him but his father yes. He married a muggle woman, she's very pretty, smart. His parents didn't disown him simply because of their grandchild" she said with a grin. Pleased she knew a bit more then they did about the new Professor. 'I don't see why we all can't just get along' she thought with a sigh. That wasn't something she would normally think, this was the girl who wasn't exactly the nicest person in the world to anyone.

Aspen's comment immediately reminded Scorpius of his father. Her father was similar to Scorpius's own in that way; they had connections. He felt a small twinge of resentment within himself but ignored it. Connections shouldn't give people so many advantages as they did, but Scorpius supposed that was just the way the world worked these days.
He dragged himself from his thoughts back into the conversation. "Even if he's cute, he's married, so keep your distance Aspen," he joked with a grin. He knew how she could get sometimes with attractive people. He meant for the comment to be taken as a joke, but he almost felt like she should take it seriously, perhaps more like a warning, just in case. She could be sort of unpredictable sometimes, and Scorpius didn't want her getting into anything that would get her in trouble.
He checked his watch; it was about time for him to leave for the Prefect's compartment. "I've got to go to the Prefect's meeting now...it shouldn't take long, I hope," he told them, rising from his seat.

“Thank goodness I don’t go for teachers, since my family would probably annihilate me if I did. Imagine if he were a student, having to compete with all those girls.” Albus chuckled, thinking of swarms of students crowding an unidentified man. He remembered stories of when his parents were attending Hogwarts, and how one year there was a fraud of a man by the name of Gilderoy Lockhart who eventually Obliviated himself on a backfired spell.
“Shardae is married? You’re thinking too hard, Scorpius – his father is married, and the professor is single right now. Otherwise Aspen wouldn’t care so much.” He gave a look at the girl, knowing she had slipped up pretty badly earlier, and that this could act as her cover. Feeding rumour mills about friends wasn’t fun at all, but self-preservation – or in this case, for Aspen – was of utmost importance. This was, you could say, choosing the lesser evil. And with Grayson Carter in the compartment, as an unknown, these cover-ups were needed. Not that he really thought anything bad would happen, since the Ravenclaw looked completely indifferent to everything most of the time, including now. The boy looked like he was off in his own little world.
He turned to look at Scorpius when the blond rose from his seat. Ah, yes, his Prefect meeting. There was a time when Albus was jealous of his friend’s position, but after the past year, he concluded he didn’t really want the job. There was so much work involved, not to mention having to interact with all the younger students. Connections were important, essential, and everywhere all the time, but children? No, thank you, Weasley youngsters were bad enough.
“We’ll see you then, Scor. And don’t worry about the time, we’ll get to Hogsmeade soon enough.” Albus nodded at his friend. “Off with you, now.”

Scorpius scratched his head, messing with his hair, which he often did when he was confused. See? This is what happens when you overthink things and stress out, he thought to himself. He was definitely distracted now, even though he was trying not to be.
"Oh. Now I feel like an idiot," he said, but grinned. It was sort of silly mistake, if you think about it. "But now you're encouraging it, maybe it's better if Aspen thought Shardae was married. That might keep her away," he joked.
"I really should go now, you guys. I'll be back soon," he said, sliding the door open and stepping out. He smiled to his friends in the compartment as a goodbye. He slid the door shut again, then turned down the aisle on his way to the Prefect's compartment. He hadn't realized before how much he had missed Aspen and Scorpius, but now that he was with them, he was glad they weren't apart any more.

Albus smothered a grin at Scor’s confused and distracted antics. “Mate, you are an idiot. And if you keep thinking Shardae’s married, then you’re really going to believe it.” He waved a hand in goodbye when Scorpius actually left the compartment. Their teasing and poking fun at each other was a constant that he was glad to have again, especially after a summer interacting with his siblings and cousins. He envied Aspen and Scorpius sometimes because of this – the lack of a large family.
“What shall we do now, Ms. Cross, now that Mr. Malfoy is gone?” Albus quirked a black eyebrow at the girl. “Mr. Carter over there doesn’t seem too interested with chatting with us. Should I poke him and see if he’s really sleeping with his eyes open?” He chuckled lowly, but as time inched forward, he could feel that it was getting boring already. He was hoping that the train ride would be over soon, and the trolley lady hadn’t even been here yet! They had to remedy this, but with what?
(OOC: No, I don't think we should have someone play the trolley lady. That would just be a little ...lame, I want to say. xD However, preferably after Aspen (and Grayson, if he plans on saying anything) posts next, I suggest that we time-jump to near the end of the train ride when Scorpius comes back. So we have more things to say and give enough time to the other compartments to finish whatever they need to/want to do. I can have Albus visit Rose after Scorpius comes back anyway, if more time is need. Or something along the lines of that, I don't really know what I'm talking about. xDD
Yes/No for time-jump? I think we can all agree that there isn't much to post about at the moment. Admins? Your opinion?
