Diana turned towards Aria, allowing her friend easy access for whispering in her ear. The two tended to do a lot of whispering between them, although Diana wasn't one for secrets as much. This was made clear earlier when she wondered allowed why Quin was talking to Violet, obviously not caring at all who heard her and who didn't. "I can't see why else he would be talking to her," Diana said, being completely serious.
Rolling her eyes at Jay, Diana chuckled. "I can't imagine that I would've had a better time than you last night, Jay. Those Gryffindor parties are really something else," she said, faking awe and the look of being impressed.
"You're right, Aria. It seems that Jay's allowed to have his Slythie girls, but also his Gryffindor girls, and probably some Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws as well," she said, almost suggestively. She worried about Jay sometimes; although he was close with a lot of people that Diana didn't like and didn't care about, he was still her friend and she cared about him. He was putting himself in a dangerous position being friends with people on both ends of the spectrum and everywhere in between.

The whispering was cruel, another reminder of how he wasn't allowed to fully associate with the Slytherins. The Gryffindors, in general, were much friendlier, especially Gia. Yawning, he leaned back in his seat, tipping it slightly, his eyes darting around the room as they whispered. How odd....Quin was still talking to Violet. That seemed ridiculously strange, and he decided to bring up the subject later with his friend. Of all of the pretty girls sitting around, why had he picked Violet? She was too snobby for her own good, and that might explain why she never seemed to be around any of her classmates.
Grinning at Aria, he chuckled, "But what would be the point in taking an easy class? We do have our NEWTs this year, and I intend to ace them all. Might as well be well-prepared for them." True, he was a geek at heart, but if he wanted to have any kind of a prosperous future, having good grades would help him severely, along with family connections. Putting on his most innocent and childish face, he added to Diana, "It was soooooo fun!" In actuality, it had been, but that wasn't something she needed to know.
"Is it my fault that the girls in every house are pretty?" He questioned, with a wink. True, he probably aggravated them due to his friendships & relations within every house, but he enjoyed sampling the finest delicacies of each, which made his life just /that/ more entertaining. Why bother committing? True, he intended to start something with Gia, but that was inevitable, and whatever happened with that would happen, play itself out, and end.
A part of him protested, asking him why he was choosing Gia over Roxanne, and to be honest, he had no fucking clue what the answer was. He loved Roxanne, he always had, but for some reason, he could only see himself with Gia, and after all, Roxanne would never be into him. Last night had probably been due only to her drunken sluttiness, not any kind of love towards him.
All of the students had filed into the classroom, and with a polite nod, he turned towards the front so that he could listen to the teacher.

Aria loved whispering, it always gave others the idea that they were actually talking about something else or something that was considered bad. When in fact, it was just a way to get under other peoples skin. And she enjoyed doing it with her best friend. She liked seeing their bemused and baleful reactions it caused. “My point exactly.” She said sweetly, a smug smile on her lips.
The gray eyed witch looked at Jay like he had grown an extra head, before she gave him a somewhat playful smirk. “You’re such a geek, Jay…” She responded softly, so that only Diana and Jay could hear her.
Aria rolled her eyes at his comment about all girls in every house being pretty, which wasn’t very true, yet at the same time it was. Aria didn’t agree with him; mainly because she was too busy staring at guys than her own gender.
The Death Eater to-be went quiet when their Professor walked in to the library. She really didn’t want to do a research project, but what choice did she have?

A half smile came across Violet's lips. "Maybe I'll try him," She said quietly, looking at the book. It still seemed like a lie to her, it was someone else's world, someone else's reality. There really wasn't any point in her reading it. Other than making Quin happy, of course. Although how simply reading a book could make someone happy was beyond her, but he seemed very enthused at the idea of Shakespeare.
"That's a very mysterious description," She pointed out. How could a book possibly be filled with so much? It felt wrong to say after going through such reverence of the things, but it was only a book afterall. Maybe Shakespeare was more of a genius than she took him at first sight. One must not judge a book by a cover, she thought, the pun making her laugh quietly.
Violet handed the book back over when he reached for it, she was somewhere between not wanting to let it go for curiosity's sake and wanting to get it out of her hands for her confusion about fiction. She stayed quiet as he lectured about Shakespeare, not wanting to interrupt Quin as the pretty words fell out of his lips. She would be lying if she said that she had heard all of his speech, but she understood the general idea. Shakespeare was a genius, using extraordinary language and all that.
"It's quite alright. I like your rambling," Violet said as the Professor walked to the front of the group. She noticed the whisperings of the other groups dying off, as did most of the looks toward herself and Quin. Violet closed her lips and put a hand on her Charms textbook. She had read the thing several times and doubted that Flitwick had much else to teach her, but she stayed quiet nonetheless. She mustn't interrupt the learning of those less blessed than she.

"I recommend it." Quin said with a smile, taking back the book and placing it back in his bag, replacing it with his charms textbook. Pausing for a moment and noting their close proximity to the classic fiction section of the library, he smiled and summoned a book to him with a nonverbal spell. He had become quite good at the nonverbal technique, since he had been studying maticulously since his fifth year to master the technique. Catching the book in his hand, he placed it in front of Violet, smiling. "Particularly this one. Merchant of Venice." he suggested, taping the cover. "You remind me quite a bit of Portia."
He heard a sudden hush descend the room, and turned to see the Professor walk in. He was explaining the project and why they were in the library-- something about a research project for the first half of the year or so. Quin figured he would get the rest of the information later, but now his thoughts had focused back on Violet. She said something about him rambling, and he smiled, lowering his eyes modestly. "Still, rambling is rude, whether it's desired or not." he said, before glancing back to where Diana, Aria, and Jay sat.
He was still in desperate need to talk to Diana-- he had left their meeting rather abruptly after Scorpius had walked in on their meeting. But he needed to talk to her, needed to discuss things with Orion, who had approached him and left him with strange ideas the night before. He needed everything to fall into place, and at the moment it required work for him to do.

Glancing over again at Quin and Violet, Diana decided to drop it. It really didn't matter to her who Quin was talking to. He could talk to whoever he wanted. But sometimes Diana got a little bit confused when it came to Quin and his incentives. At the moment, talking to Violet for some secret convenient reason was apparently more important than talking to his real friend Diana, just because. As much as she loved Quin, the two of them definitely prioritized differently when it came to who they talked to in their spare time. Not to mention the fact that Diana was jealous because Quin's attention was somewhere other than herself.
Diana couldn't help but grin at Jay. He could be so stupid sometimes but Diana liked that about him; he wasn't the usual serious sarcastic Slytherin she hung out with. He was clever, funny, intelligent, and so easy to talk to. He was one person she would miss next year, especially if things didn't work out between her and him when it came to loyalties. Diana liked to keep those things separate; she could hate him all she wanted out in the open, if he made the wrong choice when it came to loyalty, but whatever happened behind closed doors was between just him and her. Diana loved a dirty secret. "I'm sure it was," she laughed. "But forgive me if I don't choose to go to the next one with you, I think you understand why," she said.
Sighing out loud, Diana looked over at Jay, somewhat exasperated. "No, I suppose it isn't your fault, but you can't have every one of us," she said, being completely honest. Jay had always seemed to think that he could have his cake and eat it too. But eventually, those pieces of cake might get territorial and not put up with the other pieces of cake, and then there would be drama. "Sooner or later, you might have to end up settling down eventually," Diana said reasonably. She wanted what was best for him, but eventually everything would catch up with him if he wasn't careful.
